Assessment Appeals - Resources and Application

Important Notices

Regular Assessment Appeals applications must be received or postmarked between July 2 and November 30 by 5:00 PM. If November 30 falls on a weekend, the deadline will automatically roll to the next business day.

Supplemental Assessment Appeals applications must be received within 60 days of the date printed on the tax bill.

Filing Fee Requirement

A $40.00 non‑refundable processing fee must be paid at the time of filing, as required by Board of Supervisors Resolution 206‑2024.
Payment must be made by cash or check only.

In‑Person Hearings Only

All Assessment Appeal Hearings are conducted in person. (Hearings are typically in April and October.)

Virtual or hybrid participation is not available. Please plan accordingly.

Before You File an Appeal

If you disagree with an assessment made by the County Assessor, you may file an Application for Changed Assessment.
After your application is accepted, the Clerk will mail you a hearing notice at least 45 days before your hearing date.

Recommended Resources

Review these materials before submitting your application:

Tax Payment Reminder

Filing an appeal does not delay or reduce the requirement to pay your property taxes.
To avoid penalties, you must continue paying taxes on time.
If your appeal is approved, an adjustment or refund will be issued.

Forms and Applications

For penalty abatements, refer to Section 6F of the Application Instructions. You must attach a copy of your notice.

Decline‑in‑Value (Informal Review)

If you believe your property value has declined, you may request an informal review through the Assessor’s Office.
This is not a formal Assessment Appeal and does not replace filing an Application for Changed Assessment.
