(PLACERVILLE, CA) – During a regularly scheduled inspection today, El Dorado County’s Department of Transportation and structural engineers closed the Happy Valley Cutoff Bridge over the North Fork Cosumnes River in Somerset to traffic and pedestrians.
The inspection identified potential issues that are under review.
Vehicles are advised to use Happy Valley Road via Mount Aukum Road or Sweeney Road. Vehicles over 30 feet are not advised on Sweeney Road. Motorists should also allow extra time when traveling through the detour to arrive at their destinations on time. The vehicle pull out areas on either end of the bridge are still available for people wishing to park and recreate in the water.
Currently, there is no estimated time for reopening. The County sincerely appreciates the cooperation and patience of motorists who use this bridge, and we apologize for the inconvenience of this closure.
For questions regarding this closure, please contact the County’s Transportation main line at (530) 621-5900 or (530) 642-4909.
