Real Property

Under the direction of the Board of Supervisors, The Facilities Division (formerly General Services) administers a wide variety of programs including the acquisition and disposal of real property, lease administration, management of leased facilities occupied by County departments and properties owned by the County leased to others. The Facilities Division responds to requests for additional space from County departments, locates available facilities, negotiates leases, prepares lease agreements, coordinates space reconfigurations, oversees construction of tenant improvements, and provides move coordination services.

Property acquisition and disposition:

Buying and selling of real estate, public noticing, arranging for appraisal services, negotiating terms of acquisitions and/or sales, title review and escrow management. 

Lease Management:

Responding to requests for additional space; locating space available for lease, determination and coordination of tenant improvements, negotiating lease terms, preparation of lease agreements for Board approval, scheduling and coordination of on-going services and repairs. 

Service Agreements:

Negotiation and preparation of various facility service agreements such as custodial services, vending machines; preparation of Requests for Proposals and corresponding contracts for special services such as property appraisals, survey work, ground penetrating radar, etc.  

Move Coordination Services:

Obtaining bids and arranging for moving services, public noticing, space configuration, coordination of installation of phone and data services, organizing and directing departmental moves between facilities, etc. 

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA):

Inspection of leased facilities to assure compliance with ADA; determination of structural modifications as necessary, response to public inquiries relating to the County's ADA program.
