Apache Avenue Pedestrian Safety
Project Summary
The Project is along Apache Avenue from the US 50/ SR 89 intersection to the Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School and proposes to implement sustainable mobility improvements to provide a safe walkable and bikeable roadway. The project will help support the Walk to School Day, Bike to School Day, and other activities in cooperation with the school district and the Meyers community. Apache Avenue is a major collector and provides challenges faced by the community walking and bicycling to the school and the nearby Tahoe Paradise Park.

The County is in the process of awarding the construction Contract to Rapid Construction, Inc. Due to the late start of the project and the limited Tahoe construction season, the project will take two seasons to complete. The focus will be on completing the underground work (storm drain and water mainline replacement) this year (2024), with the remaining surface treatments (roadway, paving, curb and gutter, sidewalk, bike path) to be completed in 2025. The anticipated start of construction will be July 2024. |
