Welcome to El Dorado County’s Vacation Home Rental (VHR) Information Site. Here you will find the County’s VHR ordinance, recent Board action, public outreach, and other VHR-related information. IMPORTANT UPDATE

The HDL portal will be updated and revised to provide both an updated look and also new functions. HDL will be unavailable during this time from 5pm June 26th until the morning of June 28th.  

What's New

Policy on Changes to occupancy on Issued VHR Permits(PDF, 46KB): As of 6/1/2023 no change in occupancy is allowed once a VHR Permit is Issued. A change in occupancy requires a new VHR Permit.

Fees

Fees

  • New VHR Permits are $760.00
  • Renewals are $380.00
  • Above fees do not include the fire safety inspection fee. That fee is based on the dwelling's size and is required with a new permit and every two years thereafter
  • Waitlists are $190.00
  • There is also a $31.00 Technology Fee Surcharge applied to new and renewing applications

VHR Complaints

If you find that a property is violating the VHR Ordinance, please contact the Local Contact listed on the external sign posted on the property or found on our VHR Map. If the problem persists, please call Host Compliance at 530-206-7649 or report the problem on their website. Host Compliance is a resource that El Dorado County utilizes to monitor compliance within the VHR program.
