El Dorado Cemetery
El Dorado Cemetery is in the town of El Dorado and is tucked just off Pleasant Valley Road at the corner of Church Street and Cemetery Street.
The village of Mud Springs, later to be called El Dorado, emerged along the immigrant route from the Carson Valley to Sacramento, later called the 'Sacramento to Placerville Road' and Placerville Road. Hotels and other establishments to serve the incoming parties were established and fronted on the main road leading through the village.
The earliest dated headstone in El Dorado Cemetery is that of Stephen Turley, a veteran of the War of 1812 who died December 22, 1851.
El Dorado County Cemetery administration is now managing the cemetery and can assist you with any questions.
