Having a destination wedding in South Lake Tahoe?
Whether you are planning to elope or have your ideal destination wedding, there's no better place for your special day than South Lake Tahoe.
Here's what you need to know:
- Both parties must appear in person to obtain your marriage license with valid photo identification.
- Our South Lake Tahoe office is open for appointments on Thursdays to issue your marriage license. If you are having trouble booking your appointment, please feel to reach out at recorderclerk@edcgov.us. We are happy to assist you.
- If you are flying into Sacramento International Airport, you may purchase your marriage license from our Placerville office. While driving to South Lake Tahoe, you will drive past our office by Highway 50. Our Placerville office is open Monday through Friday with appointments for marriage licenses from 8 am to 4:15 pm.
- If you are flying into Reno-Tahoe International Airport the date you have scheduled your marriage license appointment, please allow 2 to 2 1/2 hours to get to our office from the airport. While driving time is approximately an hour and 15 minutes, allowing adequate time to get your rental vehicle, delays due to weather or road conditions, will decrease your stress levels and ensure you reach our office safely.
