El Dorado County Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program
Long-Term Care Ombudsmen are citizen advocates who visit residents in licensed long-term care facilities to ensure both quality of life and quality care. They investigate complaints and/or concerns, and help to resolve problems, advocating from the resident’s perspective. Ombudsman volunteers complete 36 hours of training for State certification.

Senior Day Care Services- Senior Day Care Services
Between our two campuses (Placerville and El Dorado Hills) there are a great variety of services a volunteer can provide. In our setting, almost every type of talent can be utilized. Volunteers lead or co-lead activities that range from: exercise classes, dance, art, cooking, painting, bingo, horseshoes, bowling, hockey, balloon volleyball. Volunteers also provide live entertainment (singing and/or playing instruments) and assist with lunch service or snacks. The opportunities are limitless! Senior Legal Services
Located in the Placerville Senior Center, this program is committed to protecting the independence and dignity of our community’s older adults by providing legal advice, advocacy and assistance to any resident 60 years or older, regardless of income. Volunteers assist this program through clerical and office support.

Senior Peer Counseling of El Dorado County (SPC)
Senior Peer Counseling is a program that trains adults 55 and older to provide supportive lay counseling to seniors in our community who are experiencing challenges associated with the aging process. We help seniors who are coping with issues such as: grief, changes in living circumstances, and isolation. SPC volunteers complete a 50 hour training program and attend a weekly meeting with the Clinical Supervisor to review cases.

The Senior Nutrition Program provides nutritious meals and social contact to support the overall wellness of adults 60 years and older through congregate dining and home delivered meal service. There are eight locations where volunteers offer their support: Placerville, Diamond Springs, Pollock Pines, Greenwood, Pioneer Park, Cameron Park, El Dorado Hills and South Lake Tahoe. The commitment of time will vary depending upon the volunteer position. Volunteers that assist in the kitchen, dining room or at the sign-in desk are needed between 11am – 1pm. Home delivered meal drivers are needed between 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., depending upon location. Call for more information.

Senior Shuttle
The Senior Shuttle van provides door-to-door transportation services to older adults living on the Western Slope of El Dorado County. Volunteer drivers assist with driving the Senior Shuttle and taking seniors grocery shopping and to special outing events. Volunteer drivers pick up seniors in the Placerville, Pollock Pines, Georgetown and El Dorado Hills areas. Call for more information.
