Title 130 Zoning Ordinance Updates
The Zoning Ordinance (Title 130 of County Ordinance Code) includes broad land use and development requirements for properties within the unincorporated portions of the County. As the Zoning Ordinance is frequently updated, information about future Zoning Ordinance updates, including opportunities for public involvement, will be posted to this page as new Zoning Ordinance updates are announced.
Information about recent (2025) Zoning Ordinance updates is posted below:
July 22, 2025 –
The Board of Supervisors approved updates to the County’s Oak Resources Conservation Ordinance (Chapter 130.39 of the Zoning Ordinance). The changes included updates for consistency with state law and the County’s Defensible Space Ordinance and to clarify existing regulations (such as those for public projects, heritage trees and in-lieu fee calculations). Updates also included changes to exemptions for fire safety work, insurance-required tree removal, and single-family parcels. An urgency ordinance was also approved for immediate adoption of specific fire safety and insurance exemptions. Click here for the hearing materials and copies of the final adopted ordinances. The updates to Chapter 130.39 of the County Ordinance Code will also be posted to the online County Code Viewer once they are published.
September 16, 2025 -
The Board of Supervisors approved updates to the County's Sign Ordinance (Chapter 130.36 of the Zoning Ordinance) and new Cameron Park Sign Standards, which will be effective on October 16, 2025. Project Updates
There will be many opportunities for public involvement in future Zoning Ordinance updates as they move forward, including participation at public workshops and hearings with the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors. Board of Supervisors Public Workshop 2/25/25
The Planning and Building Department, Long Range Planning Unit, will be hosting a public workshop with the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, February 25 at 1:00 PM to request Board and public feedback regarding proposed amendments to Chapter 130.36 of the Zoning Ordinance (Signs) and draft sign standards for the Cameron Park Community Region. This meeting will be held at the Board of Supervisors Chambers, 330 Fair Lane, Building A, Placerville, California.

Planning Commission Public Workshop 2/22/24
On February 22, 2024, the Planning Commission and Long Range Planning Unit held a public workshop in the Building C Hearing Room, 2850 Fairlane Court, Placerville, CA 95667, to solicit public and Commission comments on proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, including focused amendments to Chapter 130.36 (Signs), Chapter 130.39 (Oak Resources Conservation) and Section 130.40.130 (Communications Facilities). This workshop also received public and Commission feedback on the Draft Cameron Park Sign Standards as previously authorized by the Board on April 13, 2021. Documents and materials from the Planning Commission workshop are included below.
