Fire Hazard Severity Zones
Current state law requires the State Fire Marshal to classify lands within State Responsibility Areas (SRA) and Local Responsibility Areas (LRA) into Fire Hazard Severity Zones and mandates local agencies to designate, by ordinance, the areas classified as moderate, high and very high fire hazard severity zones within 120 days of receiving the recommendations from the State Fire Marshal. The SRA maps became effective on April 1, 2024, and were adopted by El Dorado County in May 2025. The proposed LRA classifications for the unincorporated areas of El Dorado County are anticipated to be adopted and become effective in June 2025.
