El Dorado/Diamond Springs Community Design Standards

Starting in May 2025, the County began working with community members to create permanent design standards for new multifamily, mixed-use, and commercial projects in the County's Community Regions (Shingle Springs, El Dorado/Diamond Springs, Cameron Park, and El Dorado Hills).
On August 21, 2025, the County held a kickoff meeting for the El Dorado & Diamond Springs Community region to introduce the project and share opportunities for public participation in this important effort.
On January 15, 2026, County staff and design consultants held a community workshop to receive community feedback on the first draft of the EDDS DSG.
On February 24, 2026, the County held a second community workshop to receive additional feedback on the draft standards.
On Thursday, August 27, 2026, the Planning Commission held a public hearing to consider a recommendation for adoption of the El Dorado & Diamond Springs Design Standards and Guidelines (EDDS DSG). Public hearing materials, including the draft EDDS DSG are available on the County's online Legistar calendar system.
