El Dorado/Diamond Springs Community Design Standards

Starting in May 2025, the County began working with community members to create permanent design standards for new multifamily, mixed-use, and commercial projects in the County's Community Regions (Shingle Springs, El Dorado/Diamond Springs, Cameron Park, and El Dorado Hills).

On August 21, 2025, the County held a kickoff meeting for the El Dorado & Diamond Springs Community region to introduce the project and share opportunities for public participation in this important effort. 

In January and February 2026, the County released the initial Administrative Draft of the El Dorado & Diamond Springs Design Standards and Guidelines (EDDS DSG) and held two public workshops to receive community feedback on the draft document. For details, see the “Community Workshops” tab below. 

On Thursday, August 13, 2026, the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider a recommendation for adoption of the EDDS DSG. For meeting details, including how to submit written comments in advance of the hearing, please see the attached public hearing notice. Public hearing materials, including the draft EDDS DSG, will be posted to the County's online Legistar calendar system once it is available.
