Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP)

The El Dorado County Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) conducts outreach and education about lead poisoning and provides nurse case management in the event of a lead-poisoned child. Many children are exposed to lead through lead-based paint, lead dust and other contaminated objects. Lead poisoning can cause learning disabilities, and behavioral problems even at the lowest levels, and at very high levels, seizures, coma, and death. Children under age six are at greatest risk.
