Citizen's Academy

Citizen Academy

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office Citizen's Academy is one of the most valuable programs that is offered to this community.  This Academy will familiarize El Dorado County residents who attend with the many aspects of law enforcement and the role that the Sheriff’s Office plays within the community.  It puts the participants behind the scenes and gives them hands-on experiences that engage and educate. This program has been very well received and enjoyed by all who have participated in the past. And best of all, it is free to El Dorado County residents!!

Your Sheriff’s Office has always strived to have the best relationship with the citizens it serves, with an ongoing trust between the two that cannot be broken easily.  This program allows us to open a positive line of communication with our citizens and to involve the community in some of the decisions regarding law enforcement.

This very popular and unforgettable program runs 16 consecutive weeks (Wednesday evenings), twice a year, and covers many diverse topics.  The weekly classroom setting builds momentum and becomes more intriguing as the participants meet the various instructors and eventually end with an opportunity to play the role of these everyday heroes in our state-of-the-art Use of Force Simulator.  Another bonus of this program includes an opportunity to take a ride-a-long with a Deputy and of course you get in-depth tours of our new Sheriff’s Facility and the Placerville Correctional facility.

Unfortunately, the Citizen's Academy is limited in participants each Spring/Fall session, so it is important to register as soon as possible.  (DUE TO ADULT THEMES AND CONTENT, the academy is only for ages 18 and older.  There are exceptions to this so please call for further information)

The Fall Citizens Academy (starting August 2023) is just around the corner, so don't wait to get enrolled.  THIS IS A MUST FOR EVERY CITIZEN OF EL DORADO COUNTY!! Class fills up fast so enroll today by filling out the application below.
