Inmate Release Notification

The California VINE system is a free, anonymous service through which victims of crime can use the telephone or Internet to search for information regarding the custody status of their offender and to register to receive telephone and e-mail notifications when the offender's custody status changes. The toll-free number for the California VINE system is (877) 411-5588. This service is brought to you by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office and is provided to assist victims of crime who have a right to know about their offender's custody status.

FAQ'S

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE IN THE VINE SERVICE?

To find an offender or register for notification, you must call the VINE Service directly from a touch-tone telephone. For assistance, call the VINE toll-free number and speak to an operator.

WHAT IS A PIN?

The PIN (Personal identification Number) is a four-digit number chosen by the caller to be used to stop notification calls from VINE. The PIN should be a number that is easy to remember. Entering a PIN is the only the only way to confirm and stop VINE Notification calls.

WHAT IF I'M NOT HOME OR MY TELEPHONE IS BUSY WHEN VINE CALLS?

The VINE service will keep trying to reach you. If there is no answer or the line is busy, VINE will continue to call every half hour for 24 hours. VINE will leave a message on an answering machine, but will continue to call every two hours up to a 24-hour period until a PIN is entered to stop the notification calls. Since VINE calls automatically when an offender’s custody status changes, notification calls may come in the middle of the night.

CAN I REGISTER MORE THAN ONE TELEPHONE NUMBER WITH VINE?

Yes. Your family, friends and other concerned persons may also check on offender status and register for notification. Each registration is separate and requires a PIN.

DOES VINE GUARANTEE MY SAFETY?

The VINE service is designed to provide you with quick and easy access to offender information and to alert you when an offender’s custody status changes. Do not depend solely on VINE or any other single program for your safety.

WHICH OFFENDERS ARE MONITORED BY THE VINE SERVICE?

VINE monitors offenders housed in the El Dorado County Jail and several surrounding counties. For information on which counties are participating in VINE, call the toll free number and speak to an operator.
