Pay By Mail
To pay by mail, make a personal check, money order or cashier's check made payable to "El Dorado County" for the amount indicated. Write the citation issue number and license plate number on the front of the check or money order. Enclose the citation with the check or money order.

Payment Plan Option
Assembly Bill 503 was approved by the Governor of California on October 13, 2017. The Bill requires California Public Agencies to offer a payment plan option for indigent persons, notice of the payment plan and the process related to indigent determination in a specified manner prior to the processing of any registration hold.
Pursuant to California Government Code Section 68632, a person is indigent if they meet any of the following conditions:
Subdivision (a):
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and State Supplementary Payment (SSP)
- California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids Act (CalWORKs)
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or the California Food Assistance Program
- County Relief, General Relief (GR), or General Assistance (GA)
- Cash Assistance Program for Aged, Blind, and Disabled Legal Immigrants (CAPI)
- In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS)
- Medi-Cal
- California Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC Program)
- Unemployment compensation
Subdivision (b)
- An applicant whose monthly income is 200 percent or less of the current poverty guidelines updated periodically in the Federal Register by the United States Department of Health and Human Services
Proof of Indigence
The person may demonstrate that he or she is Indigent by providing the following information as applicable:
- Proof of income from a pay stub or another form of proof of earnings such as a bank statement that shows the individual meets the income criteria set forth in subdivision (b) of Section 68632 of the Government Code.
- Proof of receipt of benefits under the programs described in subdivision (a) of Section 68632 of the Government Code. Proof of receipt will consist of a copy of the most recent Verification of benefits form, Notice of Action (Approval) Letter or Award Letter.
- Proof of yearly earnings from the Social Security Department is required if the individual has no income or does not receive Public Assistance.
To apply for indigency, call the Citation Processing Center at (800) 989-2058. Customer service can provide answers to questions, but they cannot file the application for you.
