Central Dispatch

The Sheriff's Central Dispatch Unit was formed in 1981 to provide the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office and other public safety agencies with radio dispatch services. The dispatch center is a Public Safety Answering Point (or PSAP) for all 911 telephone calls placed from any hardline phone within the unincorporated areas of El Dorado County. Using a complex Computer Aided Dispatch system, emergency calls are received, logged, and efficiently directed to sheriff's deputies working out in the communities of our county.

Our dispatchers strive to provide excellent public service. When you call 911, Central Dispatch understands that you or someone you are helping is having an emergency and requires immediate assistance. At times, a Dispatcher might sound a bit abrupt or perhaps "too assertive" on the phone; however, please remember that this is because they are trained to gather vital information so help can be provided quickly and safely.

The Sheriff's Central Dispatch Unit works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and every holiday. When you call 911, you can be confident that a team of highly trained dispatchers will always be there to assist you.
